October 11 – 15, 2004 is National School Lunch Week

This was the first year that Blendz sponsored National School Lunch Week and by the response of students, parents and faculty alike, it was very well received. The participating schools within the Campbell Unified School District were Rosemary Elementary, Castlemont Elementary and Forest Hill.

Blendz recognizes the importance of balanced, nutritional, healthy eating and this year, we've chosen to be the spearheads for bringing awareness of National School Lunch Week to the elementary schools within the Campbell Union School District. On October 6, 2004 Blendz was presented with a signed proclamation signed by City of Campbell Mayor Don Burr acknowledging Blendz and their efforts of creating awareness to our local elementary schools.

During this week, October 11 – 15, Blendz has offered a certificate to local Campbell Elementary School Students to redeem a FREE 12 oz smoothie, in honor of this nationwide event. For a copy of the brochure that has been distributed among some of the Campbell Elementary Schools - click here.

This year's theme is "Reach Your Peak" with National School Lunch Week. Along with eating healthier and becoming more physically active, we encourage all children to register for the Kids' Races at the Silicon Valley Marathon, October 31, 2004. From the under age 1 - Diaper Dash to the 1 Mile Fun Run for ages 10 - 12. We believe that healthier eating habits can result in improved performance, whether it may be academically or athletically. So let's get our kids out there and get active! You may register your kids online at the Silicon Valley Marathon's website by clicking here. Kid's Races registration is $15.00 and day of registration is available. Every registered child receives a bib race number (#1!), a goodie bag, poster and a finisher's medal. There will be plenty of activities in the children's area to keep the whole family entertained including bounce houses, clowns, face painting and interactive, educational activities.
